Activist Job Summary

Organize Florida is looking for motivated, dedicated and outgoing individuals to fight for social justice in Orlando!  Organize Florida is building our membership base in the fight for social, economic, and racial justice. Team members do door to door outreach; recruiting new members, identifying community leaders, getting petitions, promoting events and collecting inspiring stories.  The goal is to get people involved in whatever way is best for them.

Responsibilities

  • Fundraising: Team members  are responsible for effectively and efficiently collecting donations for the organization through contacting supporters and soliciting monthly donations. Because this is a non-profit job, we rely on the generosity of our members for our budget and political power. Team members raise awareness, identify new supporters, and open up opportunities for our community organizers to hear feedback from the community.

  • Establishing a positive rapport: Team members are the front lines of our fieldwork. They build face to face connections between Organize Florida and our supporters. Team members in this job are responsible for maintaining a professional, positive, and healthy rapport during each interaction. Campaign job team members must be knowledgeable about our work, and provide honest answers for any questions that arise. Additionally, team members are responsible for accurately recording the results of every interaction, and report daily numbers to their team leaders.

  • Maintaining a healthy work environment: Team members are responsible for helping to maintain a healthy, inclusive, and positive work environment. Organize Florida is an open and affirming workplace. Team members are expected to maintain a positive, inclusive, and open-minded attitude.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, work ethic, the ability to stand for long periods of time.

  • Team members must be able to work within a team, receive feedback, and adapt to rapidly changing political and programmatic landscapes.

  • Please note experience is not a required, however previous canvassing, sales, non profit job, or political campaign job experience is a plus.

  • Newly hired team members will work closely with the leadership team to learn how to canvass and fine tune their skills. Daily trainings are held to constantly build the skills of outreach workers. Daily trainings are held to constantly build the skills of outreach workers.

Pay and Benefits

  • Tuesday through Saturday, 37-40 hours per week;
  • Hourly rate of $15 per hour
  • Eligible to enroll in Medical, Dental and 401k after 90 days 
  • Opportunities to bonus
